You can use the same wood as the rest of the project and make the details and styling match with more success than anything sold in a store.
Make a wooden shelf brackets, Draw a line from one corner of the 1-by-8-by-8 inch hardwood shelf to another. Use a pencil and ruler to draw the line. This will create two identical triangles on the board. These are the brackets. Saw the board along the pencil line to cut two triangles out of the board. Using a band saw to cut the board.
