LAPC enabled me to do things I enjoy with other like-minded
people, without any pressure, or the knowledge that
Corporate America is taking its cut. There is no
hidden agenda or membership fees -- you pay your own
way, and everyone is welcome. We're all about making
new friends.
A friend emailed me a link to the LAPC website, and
when I read more, I was impressed that it is not
a dating site or a site keen on selling me something.
The fact that it is entirely run by volunteers appeals
to me.
One event that stands out in my memory was a board games
night where we played some arcane game of cards that
was someone's college favourite. Every other player
just had to play until they each beat the expert. What
a great way to get to know people! One's inhibitions
are soon overcome by the good old ego in competition.
