After a year in Los Angeles, I was very discouraged
that I would ever have the opportunity to meet new people
because I worked from home. Then one night, early in
2003, while searching the internet I typed "meet people
in LA" and the rest is history. Today, I cannot imagine
my life in Los Angeles without LAPC. It was the biggest
risk I had taken in a long time, and I am so very happy
I did.
I have not only met some great people and formed new
friendships; I have also explored new personal interests
and hobbies. The various events month to month continue
to allow me to try new things and find out more about
what I like or don't like. For example, my second
LAPC event was an abstract painting class Jen Tierney
coordinated and, to this day, I continue to explore
my artistic side. It's been a true personal journey
for me and for that I'm grateful and appreciative.
I grew up in San Diego and was thrilled to hear that
LAPC was going to venture out into sister cities. I
wanted to be a part of that and I'm thankful event coordinator
extraordinaire, Abby Abanes, had the confidence to allow
me to do so. By the end of 2003, I began assisting
in the development of San Diego People Connection. I
am now a co-group moderator for SDPC and an event coordinator
for LAPC. I've come a long way and can only see
more opportunities for growth in 2004.
With each experience I have whether through LAPC or
SDPC, I am reassured that my joining this group has
definitely been a positive affect in my life. Thanks
to Los Angeles People Connection, I am able to see how
truly amazing this city is and that those who live here
are just as amazing too!
