I moved back to L.A., my original 'home town,' after
a seven-year absence. In that time, most old friends
had moved on to other towns, and with the double whammy
of working from my home, I found myself feeling very
isolated. Other social groups were based around specific
interests, were expensive to join, or were a high-pressure
environment focused on singles looking for a date.
From the very first event I attended, I felt welcomed
into a very easy, warm, relaxed group
of people. Some were veterans, some brand new, but
all were out to have a good time, enjoy great conversation,
and explore new experiences together. That first event
snowballed into a full social calendar I never
thought
I'd go from zero to full tilt in nothing flat!
LAPC is full of the quality people I've been trying
to meet, and it's a very diverse group that I would
never naturally meet in the normal course of everyday
events. Life is so much better when you have great
people to share experiences with!
The event calendar had lots of fun, non-threatening
events, so I took a risk and signed up for one. That
one event was so much fun that I signed up for many
more, and the rest is happy history!
LAPC has really filled an important gap in my life since
moving out to L.A., and I've begun to meet a lot of
great people through the events. It's very exciting
to be able to get out, socialize, and explore this burgeoning
city with like-minded others. I went from feeling
totally isolated after the move, to feeling like I'm
virtually booked solid all week (or could be!).
:-) So, 'thank you' is not really enough, but I really
mean it -- you've absolutely created something that
has a huge positive impact in many people's lives.
