| CREATING
THE EVENT
Choosing a Date & Time - Post your event
early (2-4 weeks in advance) to get the best turnout of attendees.
Try a Monday. Mondays are typically overlooked and most of
our members are looking for something to do every night of
the week! Many people don’t have the usual 9-to-5 Monday-thru-Friday
work schedule. Don’t be afraid to plan those 8am hikes
in Malibu or a trip to the midnight show. You’ll find
early birds alongside the night owls!
Where to Meet Attendees – Remember
to give specific details on how attendees can locate you at
the start of your event, or later if anyone is running late.
Promoting Your Events – Craigslist
offers free classified ads for most major cities, and it’s
a great way to get the word out. Post a rip-off ad on the
bulletin board of your local bookstore, coffee shop, grocery
store or library.
Approving & Denying RSVPs - ECs are required
to approve all RSVPs at a public location. Inside your home,
you can approve or deny people as you like. Please be sensitive
to others' feelings when denying participation and act professionally.
GETTING A GOOD DEAL
Bargaining with Venues – Do you live
for good deals? In bargaining with venues, you can get all
sorts of perks and freebies to give away, which will keep
members excited about your events. Before your conversation
with a manager, think about when you’d like to accomplish.
Do you want to get a reduced rate or group discount? Free
desserts for your group? A gift certificate to the venue for
a member’s return? A private room without a deposit?
Thousands of people will be viewing this event on our website
and the venue will benefit from FREE advertising.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you’d like! The
worst that can happen is they can say, “Nope, sorry.”
OR you could get that supercool freebie to give away or a
special perk for your members. In the end, you’ll feel
good you asked, and your attendees will be impressed you went
the extra mile.

Supporting
Member Only Events – Consider hosting an event
for Supporting Members only. Our SM’s pay annual dues
help keep MYPC going strong. Hosting a special event for SM’s
is a great way to say thanks for all their support!
DURING THE EVENT
Signage for Your Events –You can download
and print the official MYPC
sign for your events. Enlarge it on neon colored paper
if you need a large sign to help you stand out at your event.
Laminate it to make it last even longer, or put it on a badge
or a t-shirt! Need something smaller? Check out our new MYPC
table sign!
Take Photos – Get more members returning
to your events. Take photos! Email photos to
support@mypeopleconnection.com
and tell us the name and date
of your event.
AFTER THE EVENT
Event Recaps – When your event is over,
you’ll receive an email to fill out a recap questionnaire.
This information includes advice that would help other ECs
who might be interested in planning a similar event. Think
about the following when writing your event recap:
• Your overall experience
• Any problems or concerns
• Issues with the venue (would you return?)
• Things you would do differently next time
Event recaps are located on your Event
Control page – in the center, underneath any upcoming
events you have. Click on “Fill out recap”.
You also have access to read other EC’s recaps under
Event History. Feel free
to contact them (their emails are linked) for helpful advice
on planning a similar event.
