I"m a bit fascinated with the Vietnamese sandwiches made with french baguettes, so I'm on a quest to find the best tasting one. So why not host a Bahn Mi taste testing tour?
What are BAHN MI's you ask? Simply they are Vietnamese sandwiches using a variety of charbroiled and deli meats embellished with traditional Vietnamese garnishments such as cilantro, mint leaves, radishes, onions, and pickled carrots/daikon. Often they are spicy as they contain jalapenos.
It's my first one (hosting and attending), so go easy on me, but I'm a type A, so that means I'm going to put some detailed thought into how I want to run this:
1) I've selected 5 bahn mi places in the SGV. We'll meet at the first destination, and then caravan together to the others for time efficiency. Only the first location will be published. All others will be revealed the day of the event when you arrive at the first destination. I will provide maps with driving directions to all drivers.
2) So no, you cannot join us at any other time other than starting destination. Yes, I could be a communication multi-tasker, but I really want to enjoy the company of those that are punctual and enjoy the taste tasting experience. YOU must arrive at first destination on time. NO exceptions.
3) You will each Paypal me $20 to secure your spot. These funds will be used to purchase the items we consume. Whatever monies are remaining will be refunded to you at the end of the taste testing tour in cash. I'm just going to divide it up by the number of attendees equally. Yes, you must use Paypal. No, I will not accept cash, checks, or other forms of payment. It is most convenient for me to track everyone's payments in one medium, and I choose Paypal.
Please note that I do incur a Paypal fee, and your $20 is inclusive of this fee. So your refund will be the result of food eaten AND my Paypal fee which I believe is a nomimal 3-5% fee of amt received, so $1 fee max?
4) If you cancel your RSVP by 3/20/10 by midnight PST, I will refund your monies in total via the Paypal system, else NO REFUNDS will be issued. You MUST cancel your RSVP on the MyPC site. Don't just email me. I want all attendee RSVP cancellations to be tracked automatically on the MyPC site. Of course, I'd appreciate a personal email from you in addition as a courtesy to me, especially if we already are acquainted.
5) If you email me to ask a question that I've already addressed in this write up, I will a) not approve your RSVP and/or b) cancel your RSVP. I truly believe I'm thorough in my event descriptions.
6) Do not ask me any questions on a) how to use Paypal in general, b) how to set up Paypal, c) how safe it is, d) how to send Paypal monies for a MyPC event, etc. I expect you to go to Paypal.com and read their FAQ section. If, for some reason, their FAQ section doesn't address your concerns and you STILL are unable to get it to work or still are uneasy using electronic means to send money, then, this event is not for you.
7) For the purposes of this event, just click on the hyperlink (sendPpaypal money to RSVP) and follow the prompts. I have been a 10 year plus Paypal and Ebay user with 100% feedback. Have had no issues whatsoever, so I know what I'm doing with Paypal.
8) Being this is my first tasting tour (as a host and participant), I'm going to limit the number of attendees. As a long time MyPC foodie host, this is the first time I'm actually limiting attendees for one of my fooding events. This is for my convenience as an Event Coordinator. Once I gain confidence in hosting these, I'll make these larger as I intend on hosting more tasting events.
9) If by some fortune, this is a very popular event, I will have a waitlist, and as soon as a spot opens, I will contact you, and you will have 24 hours to send in your $20 deposit via Paypal. Failing that, I'm moving to the next person on the wait list.
10) Yes, you must be an adventurous eater, like spicy hot foods, and we will be taste testing mostly meats. So if you are allergic, a picky eater, are vegetarian, this event is not for you. No, I will not be keeping a separate tally for just the portions you eat.
11) This is a family style taste testing event. So whether you try everything or just some, the entire cost of ALL the sandwiches will still be split amongst the number of attendees evenly.
Despite these very clear-cut rules I've stated above, I'm really an easy going and fun EC. LOL...I just want to have a good time and not be hassled by administrative ping pong communication due to someone's inability and/or lack of desire to read through everything. Yes, I expect you to read.
I think we're going to have a really fun time together, whoever you 8 people are that decide to trust and join me in my very first Tasting Tour event. |
