 Join us for brunch where we'll be learning some basic Spanish phrases and attempting to speak it. I'll provide you with a handout with:
basic greetings and responses
a brief history of Central America & its major tourist attractions
a history of the language
the Spanish you already know
information on typical Central American cuisine
To attend, please RSVP at the bottom of this page. You'll be prompted to PayPal your $10 deposit - make sure you use a debit card, because I cannot accept credit card payments on my PayPal account. Until I receive your deposit, you will NOT be confirmed to attend the event. Deposits are non-refundable.
THIS EVENT IS PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS. We also welcome native speakers to help keep the conversation flowing. This event is an informal exploration of the language and the culture. You should just be open to learning something new and unafraid of practicing with other people who are new to the language.
About the Restaurant
Salvadoran food is rich and hearty and they do it great here at this classic Mom n' Pop restaurant where the owner warmly welcomes you and often takes your order herself. It's also got great prices. Some dishes you may sample include:
Curtido - Salvadoran cabbage salad wth crushed red pepper flakes, vinegar, & carrots
Yuca Frita con Chicharron - Deep-fried cactus tastes almost like french fries, chicacharron is deep-fried tender pork cubes, and it's served atop a bed of pickled cabbage.
Pupusas - Like stuffed tortillas but oh so much better. Fillings include: cheese, chorizo sausage, zucchini, fresh herbs and cheese, and carnitas.
PLEASE NOTE 15 Minute Rule: 15 minutes is how long we'll wait until we place our order as a group, so if you arrive afterwards, you'll have to place your order then.
