 Tue 08/09 - Rock the Shakti: Yoga in the Park @ South Pasadena
Basic and Intermediate poses will be taught. Be prepared to sweat as we have fun moving from asana to asana. See life from a new perspective as we support each other in handstands and backbends.
Beginning and Experienced Yoginis welcome.
 Fri 8/10 - "Drinks on the Eastside": Short Stop @ Echo Park
After a month's hiatus, "Drinks on the Eastside" continues its jaunt around the Eastside with a stop at the Short Stop in Echo Park! There is no Dodger game tonight, so the place will be it's usual self. There is a pool table, good jukebox and sometimes there is a live dj. The place can get busy later in the evening, but everytime I have ever been there it has been pretty mellow.
 Sat 8/11 - Drum Corps World Championships @ Pasadena
Have you heard of the Blue Man Group? Have you ever been compelled to move to the sound of percussion music, or experienced chills when you hear the crescendo of over 100 brass instruments resonating around you, or passed by an amphitheater catching the echo of your favorite band in concert but wished that you were sitting inside to hear it the way it was meant to be?!
The DCI World Championships will be held at Rose Bowl this year!!! This will be California's first time to host the Championships!!! A rare opportunity to see this world-class competition right here in Pasadena!!!

On the 20th anniversary of their introduction to our cultural psyche, our two dimensional doppelgangers the Simpsons finally get the feature film treatment they so richly deserve.
**I'll be at Ciudad at 6:30 for a pre-movie dinner & chat! I'll grab a table by the bar and will have a MyPC sign, so I should be easy to spot! Ciudad is located just a couple blocks south of the theatre at 445 S. Figueroa Street. You can still park at the World Trade Center and then walk over to the restaurant.**

Ten blasphemous comedic stories inspired by the Biblical Commandments. Each tale unfolds in a different style, but with characters and themes that overlap, as told by a narrator who, in turn, has his own moral problems.

| 7/30/07 | Reservoir Walk, Mashups Dancing, Breakfast at Dish | Featured Events
 Tue 7/31 - Reservoir Walk and Treats @ Silver Lake
We'll have a nice, brisk walk around the Silver Lake Reservoir and treat ourselves to coffee or ice cream.
We'll meet and greet at Starbucks. Then we will walk east on Glendale Blvd, turn right onto Silverlake Blvd and continue on to walk the path around the Silver Lake Reservoir. The walk is about a 3-mile loop with less than a 400' elevation gain. This walk should take about an hour.
 Sat 8/04 - Casual Clubbing: MashUp Night @ Hollywood
You won't find obnoxious doormen, A-list celebs or ultra-modern decor here. This is just a fun 2-level club with a medium-sized dance floor, good air conditioning, and a fun, unpretentious crowd.
So, what is a mashup? the vocal track of one song is mixed over the instrumentation of another. Using audio editing software, DJs and mashup artists combine different artists and musical genres to create new and unique songs that are often greater than the sum of their parts. Imagine Michael Jackson rocking out with Nirvana, or Madonna singing with the Sex Pistols, or Eminem rapping with No Doubt.
Half the fun here is trying to figure out what songs are being mixed together. Still can't imagine it? Then you'll just have to show up to find out!

| 7/6/07 | Summertime Scavenger Hunt | Featured Events
 Sat 7/21 - Summertime Scavenger Hunt @ Santa Monica
Two hours of competitive team hunting and gathering, for prizes and bragging rights.
Come one come all, for a scavenger hunt! Teams of three or four participants (form your own group, or I'll help make teams) will have two hours to complete as much of their shopping lists as possible. Expect to be asked to find an assortment of things, from [DELETED] to the absolutely [DELETED] and even some [DELETED] [DELETED]-y [DELETED].
In addition to finding things, teams can also earn victory points by answering certain questions. There queries will be of a specific observational nature; for instance: how many mailboxes are on the corner of X and Y, or what color are the steps of the Z building (the kind of thing you just can't google to get the answer, you internet-phone types).
 Points will be given out for everything you get or answer correctly. The winning team will get some amazingly cool prizes, not to mention bragging rights for the next ten thousand years.
The cost is just $7 for Supporting Members, $10 for non-Supporting Members. (Become a Supporting Member here.) Money will be collected on the day of the event and will be used for purchasing the prizes for the winners with the remainder donated to My People Connection's servers and other costs.
 Meet at noon on Sat 7/21. Please make sure you arrive on time! From 12:00 to 12:30 I will go over any questions and facilitate the forming of three- or four-person teams. At half past noon I will hand out the lists with items to find and questions to answer. Teams have from 12:30 until 2:30 to find as much stuff from their lists as possible. After two hours, teams will meet at the drop point with their lists and items for the Grand Accounting. The team with the most completed stuff wins!
RSVP now for the Summertime Scavenger Hunt @ Santa Monica - and TELL A FRIEND! This is a great event for NEW MEMBERS since we'll introduce you to others & assemble your team.

Roller skate to music of the 70s and 80s!! The rink will be closed to the public for two hours while we act like teenagers again. Kids and spectators welcome. Have kids or a friend with kids who never gets out of the house? Bring them! Don't know how to skate? Come out and watch the fun and chat with people while they rest

| 7/4/07 | EC of the Month: Ron R. from Los Angeles |  Contrary to rumor, Ron R. is not a jet-setting dilettante. Well, in that he doesn't have a jet. Yet. But he is definitely the life of the party at mypc events! Ron is a delight to hang out with, whether he's hosting or attending. But Ron is more than just event-candy, he's also part of the mypc volunteer group that plans fund-raisers and recruits supporting members. Ron is burning the candle at both ends to help our club and that's why he's EC of the Month for July!
If you want to bask in the fireworks celebration that is Ron R., make sure you join him with his buddy Harry Potter or perhaps an evening with John Williams. |

 Tue 7/03 - Griffith Park Semi-Beginner / Discovery Hike @ Travel Town
Spend an evening in Griffith Park as part of our weekly Tuesday hikes. We'll discover hiking trails on this side of Griffith Park since the other trails we normally hike on will be closed indefinitely. This hike will at most be 4 miles/600ft. This hike is not flat, there are up and down inclines through some brush.

Are you coping with a job loss? Are you considering changing careers? Are you unhappy with your current job? I hope not to turn the conversation into a "bitch session" about our job situations, but to think constructively about the change and to help others! I'm limiting this meeting to 10 participants, so that we can have a small group experience.
